CHC33015  Certificate III in Individual Support  — DISABILITY specialisation

This qualification is for those students who want to make a difference in the lives of people with a disability. Our disability training provides students with the skills and knowledge to carry out activities related to personal care and/or other activities in the daily life of clients with a disability.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the nationally recognised qualification CHC30408 – Certificate III in Disability. This qualification addresses work in the community and/or residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans.

These workers:

Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people with a disability
Carry out activities related to an individualised plan
Report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.
Occupational titles may include:

Accommodation support worker/ Field officer /Assistant in nursing/ Home care assistant/ Care assistant/ In-home respite care worker/ Client assistant/ Nursing assistant / Community access coordinator/ Personal care assistant/ Community care worker/ Personal care giver/ Community house worker/ Personal care worker/ Community support worker/ Residential aide/ Disability service officer/ Residential care officer/ Disability support office/ Residential care support worker/ Disability support worker/ Family support worker/ Support worker.

This course consists of 13 units, including 7 core units and 6 electives.
The Core units are:

CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support

CHCCCS023 Support independence and well being

CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services

CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people

CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically

HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems

HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Course charges for each qualification delivered in a Traineeship arrangement will be charged at the prescribed rate of $3.25 per nominal hour commenced, and each unit of competency in each course has a nominal hour allocated to it. Please CLICK HERE   for each unit of competency’s nominal hour allocation and multiply by the prescribed rate, currently at $3.25. Any unit commenced will be charged to the student or employer if engaged in workplace training in compliance of the VET FEES & CHARGES POLICY 2017 

Example:   SITXWHS101 Participate in safe work practices   = 15 nominal hours = $48.75

Course charges vary due to the electives selected  and units will be charged once commenced at yearly nominal rate fee.

CHC43115  Certificate IV in Disability

This nationally recognised qualification will empower you to provide training and support to people with disabilities to increase their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance and community participation.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the nationally recognised qualificationCHC43115  Certificate IV in Disability. This qualification addresses work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes.

These workers:

Report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies
May work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.
Occupational titles may include:

Behavioural support officer / Marketing coordinator / Development officer / Project officer (life enhancement team) / Disability officer – day support / Residential care officer / Disability support officer/worker / Senior personal care assistant / Employment coordinator (disability) / Social educator / Job coordinator / Social trainer / Lifestyle support officer / Supervisor / Local area coordinator

15 units must be selected for this qualification including:

This course consists of 14 units, including 11 core units and 2 electives and up to 1 from the electives.
The Core units are:

CHCDIS002 Follow established person-centred behaviour supports

CHCDIS005 Develop and provide person-centred service responses

CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability

CHCDIS008 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion

CHCDIS009 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centred approach

CHCDIS010 Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs

CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
